As a goldsmith, you often get to make jewellery for special occasions. They mark important events in the life of your client. I find it very interesting to hear the special stories. Given a glimpse into someone's life, and to become a little part of it by making a piece of jewellery that best suits their wishes.
A fellow goldsmith from the Dutch guild sent the customer of this ring to me; he was looking for a "fairy tale ring" she said. How nice, such sweet colleagues!
This ring is an engagement ring for a lady that I got a good feeling about right away. When I researched her personality on her own website, I saw that she loves nature. She sees things that others do not. She sees the beauty that is sometimes hidden from others, in little mushrooms, snails, birds, mice and butterflies. When her friend told me that she can even carries a shovel in the car to bury roadkill, I knew she has a special love for animals. I admire that. Wonderful, then, to make something beautiful for this person!
An oak tree has a special meaning for her. Hence, the leaves in this ring. And her favorite colour pink comes back in the flower.
Now let's hope she likes it!
